Yo La Tengo, often considered to be the "quintessential critics' band," have been making their special blend of music for almost 30 years, and have maintained their line up since the early ‘90s. They have managed to escape being pigeonholed by genre labels their entire career, and have delved into many different styles of music, excelling at all of them. The band consists of husband and wife duo Ira Kaplan and Georgia Hubley, on guitar and drums respectively, as well as James McNew on bass. The band has been releasing records since 1986, and so far has 13 studio albums, 14 EPs, and 15 singles. The group is also well known for having an extreme catalogue of cover songs, which they consistently manage to work into setlists. Their most recent album, Fade, was released to widespread critical acclaim on January 15th, 2013.
