Mansions on the Moon is a California-based group that incorporates many musical elements and styles, giving them an approach to their sound that has been called "the future of music." The group was born in 2011, from Ted Wendler, Ben Hazlegrove, and Lane Shaw. The band utilizes elements like vocal harmony, live and midi-based instruments, and shows influence from hip-hop and to indie rock music. Mansions on the Moon has performed at the South by Southwest festival, and their first two releases featured collaborations with artists like Deadmau5 and Pharrell Williams. They have two records, Paradise Falls Mixtape (2011), and Lightyears EP (2012).
