Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund

The greater Houston area has been devastated by flooding from Hurricane Harvey. White Oak Music Hall, Pegstar Concerts, and non profit Friends of Little White Oak Bayou, have all teamed up to raise relief funds to support those in the live/recorded music community affected by this tragedy. Early support from musical Artist like Diplo, Sylvan Esso, and Twin Shadow has been received and more are lined up. Efforts include:

  • Sylvan Esso donating a portion of concert proceeds and all merch proceeds from their August 31, 2017 show at White Oak Music Hall. [UPDATE] This show has been canceled, but Sylvan Esso will maintain this donation at its rescheduled Houston date (date TBD).
  • Twin Shadow donating a number of unique music-related items as part of a fund-raising auction
  • Diplo making a kickstarting financial contribution to the fund
  • White Oak Music Hall donating all door profits from the Sylvan Esso show

We are working with other artists to also contribute to the fund, and we hope these efforts will inspire you to participate in your own way, whether big or small. Our goal is to raise $50,000 from the music and live concert community as part of this effort.

All amounts donated to this fund, with the exception of unavoidable credit card processing fees, will be distributed by 501(c)(3) non-profit organization Friends of Little White Oak Bayou to people impacted by Hurricane Harvey and are fully tax deductible.

We know you have many options on where to donate relief funds. Transparency of our fund is paramount, and we want you to know how your funds will be used.

(1) First, all funds will be collected and given to 501(c)(3) non-profit Friends of Little White Oak Bayou (federal tax ID: 81-3792887), an organization created to benefit the Northside neighborhood of Houston where White Oak Music Hall is located. Through its 501(c)(3) status, your donation will be fully tax deductible, and if you require a receipt for tax purposes, we are happy to provide one.

(2) 97 cents out of every dollar will go directly to relief. The only amounts that will not go to relief (the 3 cents) are fees charged by credit card companies to process your donation. We are not keeping any funds for administration, overhead, etc.

(3) We have created an application for individuals seeking relief funds. That application is available by clicking here. This application asks individuals how they are affiliated with the live or recording music community, and how they have been affected by Hurricane Harvey. It will also ask for proof of damages and personal references, so that we can verify their affiliation and their need for funds.

(4) A panel of individuals working in the live and recording music industry and representing Friends of Little White Oak Bayou will review all applications and make awards based on need. As a condition of receipt of funds, individuals receiving funds must agree to have their name, affiliation with the live/recording music industry, and award amount disclosed, which will be published at the conclusion of our relief efforts.

As always, thank you Houston for your neverending support for live music and fellow Houstonians!
