The 4th Annual Great Plains Art & Music Festival returns to Lawrence, Kansas on Saturday, October 18, 2025, transforming Sesquicentennial Point Park into a full-day celebration of creativity, flavor, and sound " all for just $20 general admission. Set high above Clinton Lake and the Wakarusa River Valley, this one-of-a-kind event is an art fair, a handmade makers market, a food and dessert truck rally, and a regional music festival rolled into one unforgettable day.
This year's lineup features nine bands across two stages. Headlining are MoonShroom, Kansas City jamgrass innovators who have shared stages with Yonder Mountain String Band, Leftover Salmon, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, and Railroad Earth, and Pretend Friend, a progressive bluegrass band from Wichita who have opened for Béla Fleck's My Bluegrass Heart and Yonder Mountain String Band. They are joined by Dames of the Dead, Kansas City's only all-female Grateful Dead tribute; Page 7, a reggae and rocksteady supergroup with international roots; Black Light Animals, a psychedelic soul and rock force from Kansas City; Half Tiger Half Bear, a high-energy indie fusion band; Sirens in the Suburbs, original KC rock blending punk roots with Midwestern soul; Jessica Paige Band, led by powerhouse vocalist and American Idol semi-finalist Jessica Paige; and Brody Buster, an internationally acclaimed bluesman once praised by B.B. King as "one of the greatest harmonica players of our time." The festival is also home to a juried art and makers market with 25 confirmed vendors in the first week and 75 to 100 expected in total. Confirmed vendors include Village Boutique with treasures, furniture, and Wild Stone Jewelry; Sisters in Nature with nature-inspired works and interactive art-making by Elaine Schaffner and Barbara Baeuchle; The Fairy Godcow with custom hand-drawn henna body art; Eggimann Acres with pickles, salsa, honey, jams, fresh bread, totes, and jewelry; Pretty in Pink Lemonade with fresh-to-order lemonade in multiple flavors and cider; Blissful Arts Collective with jewelry, candles, teas, and natural body care; Heather Duris Art with warm, textured, nature-inspired paintings; Brian Giammasi with abstract works in acrylic, ink, and resin; Art Glass Heart with luminous handmade glass creations; Quinntessential Art with colorful prints and whimsical accessories; Renéeisance Art with watercolor and ink originals, prints, and stickers; Sippin' Dirty with dirty sodas served from a vintage camper; Heaven Scent by Victoria with handmade body butters, scrubs, and oils; Just Send It Disc Dyes with custom dyed disc golf discs; Ithenshe Designs with Native beadwork and ribbon skirts by Heidi Reneau; Isaac Duff with bold original artwork; Addie's Art with mixed-media paintings and prints; Wild June with permanent jewelry and handmade sterling and gold-filled pieces; The Tie-Dye Lady with colorful tie-dye clothing; Satalizar with imaginative artwork by MJ Farris; and Michael McJunkin with local artworks and creative originals. Beyond the art and makers market, the food and dessert truck rally will feature tacos, pizza, lemonade, dirty sodas, cotton candy, roasted nuts, baked goods, and other unique festival eats. Vendors are curated so their offerings complement each other rather than compete, creating a diverse and delicious experience. Tickets are $20 for general admission, which includes access to both music stages, the art and maker fair, and the food truck rally. VIP passes are $50 and include shaded seating in the VIP tent, stage-front access, private restrooms, and a free festival T-shirt while supplies last. Camping is available at nearby Clinton Lake State Park, with full hookups, electricity and water. All proceeds benefit the nonprofit Great Plains Emerging Arts Project, which is working toward building a permanent amphitheater at Sesquicentennial Point " a long-envisioned cultural hub for Lawrence and the region. |
